Amitabh Bachchan overtakes Khans as advance tax payer this quarter

He's clearly ahead of the three Khans. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has been declared the individual highest Advance Tax Payer in Central Charge -- Mumbai — for the financial year 2012-2013. The actor has paid 25 crore as advance tax.

A couple of days ago, a segment of the media had reported that the top advance tax payer — among Bollywood actors — for March 2013 is Akshay Kumar (18 cr) followed by the three Khans. The media reports missed out the fact that Amitabh Bachchan (12 cr) is next to Akshay (for this quarter), followed by Salman Khan (approximately 11 cr), Shah Rukh Khan (10-plus crore), and then Aamir Khan (8 crore).

Our source says, "In this financial year, the tax payment from Amitabh Bachchan will be 37 crore plus. The cumulative tax paid by the Bachchans, including Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, will be 51 crore."

Our source also added that Income Tax department officials met Big B at their Marine Lines office to congratulate him for being the highest tax payer in Central Charge.
