Karthi names his daughter ‘Umayaal’
Karthi became a proud father of a girl on January, 11, 2013. Now Karthi has announced that he had named his daughter Umayaal, which is the name of Parvathy, the consort of Lord Shiva.
Karthi, son of well-known actor Sivakumar and brother of Surya, opted for an arranged marriage. He tied the knot with Ranjini Chinnasamy, an English literature graduate from Coimbatore, on July 3, 2011 in Coimbatore.
Karthi was blessed with a baby girl during the Pongal season and the next day his much hyped movie ‘Alex Pandian’ was released worldwide. The news was first publicised by director Venkat Prabhu, who is directing the upcoming movie of Karthi, Biriyani. The director used his social networking site Twitter to reveal the news.
He retweeted Studio Greeen’s Prabhu post which read, “Today 11-1-2013 Karthi & Ranjini blessed with girl baby. Both mom & daughter are fine. Normal delivery.”
Then, the director congratulated the couple, “Actor Karthi becomes dad!! Congrats bro!! It’s a gal baby!!!”
Actress Priya Mani tweeted, “Very happy to hear my costar Karthi has become a dad!!!! proud dad of a girl baby!”
Sivakumar’s family was specific about naming the child with a traditional name. They have taken more than two months to name their cute little girl and now they have finalised the name as Umayaal. The naming ceremony is likely to happen soon, said reports.
Karthi said his family has chosen the name, as this name reflects their traditions and heritage. Karthi’s elder brother Suriya had married actress Jyothika and the couple are blessed with a girl child and a boy child – Diya and Dev. The actor’s only sister Brinda also has two children.
Karthi is at present busy with Venkat Prabhu directorial Biriyani. After completing this film, he will be taking up All in All Azhagu Raja directed by M Rajesh.
